Marble Care

by Mark on October 29, 2009

People are always asking me for marble cleaning tips.e.g how to keep it looking as good as the day that I leave it.When ever we complete any work we always leave a maintenance schedule with marble cleaning tips and marble cleaner. The marble cleaner is S4S, a fantastic marble cleaning product that works brilliantly.

Anyway here a couple of essential marble cleaning tips you should know.

1.For floors sweep often.I recommend a orange dust mop, obtainable at any cleaning supplies shop. As well as dirt and sand that gets walked onto your floors, dust from the air blows in also. All of this dust dirt and sand acts like sandpaper on your floors when you just walk around and naturally you just keep rubbing it in. So, the more you vacuum, sweep or use your dust mop, the better.

2.marble cleaning tip no 2.ONLY use a designated marble cleaning product for your marble.S4S is a great marble cleaner. Some advantages are 1 its ph neutral which means it cannot and will not etch mark or burn your marble.2It dries streak free.3It kills germs.4 Bio degradable, extremely safe for you, your family and the environment and the list goes on.Try it, you wont be disappointed.Hundreds of satisfied are re ordering S4S marble cleaner. Its also Australian made.

Stick with these 2 marble cleaning tips and your on the right road. More latter.

Granite floors (factory honed)

by Mark on October 27, 2009

I had a weeks holiday with the kids camping, fishing lots of fun and back to work two weeks ago. Just finished a 1200m2 commercial cleaning and sealing job. It had been sealed without it being cleaned properly. It appeared to have a fair amount of grout smear still on the tiles. Any sealed stone must be correctly sealed and neutralized prior to sealing.

steps taken in this job were as follows:

1. Machine scrubber clean with stone cleaner. An acidic and detergent based cleaner. This will remove the grout haze and wash the tiles. Wet vac dry while still wet.

2. Neutralize scrub with bicarb soda and water. Wet vac dry while still wet.

3. Rewash with S4S marble cleaning product. It works great on any porous stone to clean and neutralize .

The granite tiles are now ready to seal (once completely dry).

Using a lambswool applicator we applied a liberal amount of sealer to the stone. Allow aprox half – 1 hour to absorb into the tiles. Then repeat with another generous amount of sealant. If done properly the second coat will take a while to penetrate. About 1 hour later remove any excess. The following day buff the tile to remove any slippery excess.

by Mark on October 8, 2009

What a huge problem! 10 years of coating sealant every 6 months from the previous owner. It appears every time it lost its gloss, he would clean it just with a mop and put another  inferior coat of sealant on it. Unbelievable! All my heavy duty strippers couldn’t pull it off…. I had to call [...]
