The final day . All the limestone is now dry and clean and ready to

be sealed. I used a razor scraper to remove any foreign matter while sealing. We used a soaking method of a silicone based water repellent. Fill the sealant bucket and apply with a lambs wool applicator on a T-bar. Apply generously one area at a time. Re-apply a second coat about half an hour later. Ensure even coverage. ‘ Do not hold back’. We applied it generously to ensure the tiles are fully sealed. About one hour later go over the surface with a dry lambs wool on a T-bar to remove any excess. The photos really show the before and after finish. This is only achieved if you use top quality sealant that are guaranteed for at least 5 years.

We recommended that they use S4S to maintain their floors, and left them with the product and instructions.

Limestone day 2

by Mark on June 15, 2009

The Limestone has come up a treat, but there are a few more steps to do before sealing.  aa 128

Next we will machine scrub and wash with S4S. Proper use of marble cleaning products is imperative. All areas must be scrubbed properly and use the grout cleaning tool to thoroughly clean the grout joints. Next, wet vac up all the waste. The Limestone is now thoroughly clean and neutralized but we wont seal it yet. Because the limestone

delaminating and powdering we have to pre seal. The pre-seal is a water based pre-seal that will harden and bind the stone. This is a long process but in the long run it is absolutely worth it.

Note both before and after photos. The Limestone had certainly been left far to long, but we got it looking fantastic.

I went and did a few touch-ups on a job by myself and left Matty and Jayden at another job. Its a resort with 2-3 bedroom units. Probably about 60 units all up. Their problem is the tiles. Very dirty that a mop and bucket just wont do.
What we need to do is machine scrub [...]

Marble Bathroom

by Mark on June 3, 2009

A brand new “Crema Marfil” marble bathroom stuffed. Someone turned up to anti-slip the floors and decided that an acid wash was the way to go. Wrong!
What the client wanted was this. The area in the actual shower, matt finished and good anti-slip and the dry area of the shower bathroom repolished to match the [...]

I got a call from Susan the other day just asking about cleaning her marble bathroom walls and floor tiles. She said that they just didn’t look as good as they should. It had been about 4 years since they had been installed and sealed. On testing the floors they were in need of a [...]

Marble Vanity Bathroom

by Mark on June 1, 2009

Elaine called me explaining that no matter how much she tried to clean her marble vanity’s in the bathroom, they still looked dirty. On inspection I told her that the marble had become etched through spillages of acid based solutions such as vinegar, lemon juice, wine glass rings etc.
This is not just a case of [...]
