Granite Bench tops

by Mark on November 13, 2009

cleaning and sealing granite bench tops is not that difficult providing you have the right chemicals and tools.

Here’s how its done. Razor scrape the surface  to remove any foreign matter a.g. glue etc. Clean granite bench tops .We use S4S a granite cleaning product. Then totally dry surface. We then washed the granite with acetone. This washes and dries the granite. It is now ready to seal.

Using a top quality sealant soak the cleaned granite bentchtop. Do not pour directly onto the granite bench top. Wearing protective gloves Apply sealant with a clean white cloth. Keep rubbing into the granite for at least 20 to 45 minutes. Keep adding more sealant as it soaks in. When the granite is full ,eg no more sealant will penetrate, Let the remaining sealant sit for about 5 minutes. Now using dry white clean clothes remove all excess sealant. The granite bench top should look dry.

Now do not use for 12 hours. Clean with S4S a granite cleaning product regularly to keep looking great.

Granite clean and seal

by Mark on September 10, 2009

I got a call last week and booked in a clean and seal of a granite bench top. Relatively easy but time consuming.

Thoroughly clean with S4S marble cleaner, razor scrape any glue etc. Then wash with acetone.

When dry, thoroughly soak with a good quality oil and water repellent sealer. Rub sealer into granite using a soft cloth. Should take between 20-40 minutes, to really fill the stone.  Then let it sit for 5 minutes and remove all excess sealer and buff.

The lady purchased some S4S marble cleaning product as it works wonderfully on granite also.
