Anti Slip Treatment

Anti-slip glass mosaics

by Mark on September 16, 2009

Brisbane botanical gardens laid a small path of glass mosaics. When wet it became extremely slippery, in fact it was more like an ice skating rink. We removed the plants around the border and applied our anti-slip. You need to keep the surface wet for between 20mins to 1 hour depending on the surface. After 35 mins we neutralized the surface with S4S marble cleaner and wet vac dried. We neutralized with S4S marble cleaner another 3 times then replaced the plants to original positions. We will send a maintenance product to scrub the floors periodically to keep the anti-slip doing its job. glass 019

Glass Mosaics Clean & Seal

by Mark on July 27, 2009

P1040462  Had a really unusual and tough job last week. Small sheets of glass mosaics were applied to the floor and walls and to the entrance of a unit block. They looked great but the problem was-

1. The floor becomes like a skating rink when wet.

2.The tiler applied a coating sealant to the wall which had started flaking off and looked terrible.

Solution:

1. Anti-slip floor which worked great. A maintenance schedule will be left to help keep the anti-slip maintained.

2. The coating sealant was completely wrong. First we had to strip the walls of all sealant.  This took a long time but if you don’t get it 100% stripped and clean there will be trouble down the line. We then neutralized and thoroughly cleaned the walls with S4S marble cleaner. When dried we applied 2 x coats of marble sealer and wiped off the excess. The results speak for themselves (note photo). All they will need now is a hose to clean them down.
