A long trip to work today. About almost 2hrs. The client who has the fire places we recently sealed needs toilets etc to be installed in the powder room and ensuite. Excellent quality ‘Crema marfil’ tiles to floors and walls and two walls had small mosaics.
Doodle bug cleaned walls and machine cleaned floor with S4S, a great marble cleaning product. Had to razor scrape a few bits of grout on the tiles which was left by the tradesmen’s boots. Came up fantastic. Dried quickly. Then we sealed with marble sealer 2 x coats and buffed off the excess. Looked sensational.
Later that afternoon I went to seal sandstone tiles and I had to clean sandstone in corners with a small rag and S4S stone cleaner and water. Applied 2x coats of a masonry oil and water repellent. Remove any excess with rag. Looked great when I left, but I like to check on my jobs.
I got a call from Susan the other day just asking about cleaning her marble bathroom walls and floor tiles. She said that they just didn’t look as good as they should. It had been about 4 years since they had been installed and sealed. On testing the floors they were in need of a re-seal but the walls were ok but dirty. She said she was advised to clean the floors and walls with water. The problem here is that you need to clean with a cleaner that has a bacteria solution as part of the cleaner. S4S has this ingredient and works great.
I first sealed the shower floor tiles in a solution of liquid chlorine 1 part to 3 parts water. This got rid of the mould then S4S to neutralize and scrub clean. We also used the grout cleaning tool to scrub the grout joints. They came back pretty good. The walls we sprayed with S4S and dried with a clean whit cloth. It was amazing the amount of dirt that had been sticking to the walls over time. When the floors were dried I applied 2 coats of marble sealer then 1 hour later buffed the excess. She was astonished how great the walls now looked and the floors came back pretty good also. She purchased a starting kit of S4S so her house cleaner could start using the product not only in the bathroom but all the internal marble floors. I explained that the S4S would keep the bacteria away, clean thoroughly, dry streak free and most importantly, not do any harm at all to her marble. She was very happy when we left. She asked me to send a letter in a years time to talk about the cleaning and sealing of the rest of the marble in the house.
